As Commissioner of the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and a member of the governor’s cabinet, Wayne spearheads initiatives to propel North Dakota towards its goal of becoming the healthiest state in the nation. With a focus on bolstering the pillars of well-being—physical, economic, and behavioral—he leads the development and execution of DHHS’s strategic vision. Salter previously served as deputy executive commissioner of access and eligibility services for Texas Health and Human Services. Prior to Texas, He spent 17 years with the Florida Department of Children and Families, including as deputy director of the Public Assistance Division.
