Michael D. Valle was appointed chief information officer and deputy director for information services at the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) in 2020. Since 2009 he has worked in various health data and technology policy and management roles, both with the HCAI and the California Health and Human Services Agency. He has overseen the implementation of several data transparency programs, including hospital supplier diversity, prescription drug cost reporting, and the first statewide health open data portal in California. He also led programs for strategic planning and technology policy and governance. From 2014 to 2019 he served as assistant adjunct professor in political science at American River College.
Michael holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California’s Price School of Public Policy.
