Nicolette E. Wise, MHP, is the social determinants of health director at TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid agency. Her passion for health equity, dedication to mitigating health disparities, and commitment to addressing the barriers that impede upon optimal health for vulnerable populations led her to TennCare in July 2020. In her role, Ms. Wise is charged with creating strategies and initiatives to address health inequities and social risk factors for Tennesseans, both of which are components of the TennCare’s Health Starts Initiative. Through these efforts and future initiatives, TennCare hopes to move the needle on Tennesseans’ health outcomes.
Ms. Wise holds a Master of Public Health in Behavioral, Social, Health Education Sciences from Emory Rollins School of Public Health, received her undergraduate degree from Belmont University in Nashville, and is a certified health education specialist through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
