Morgan McDonald, MD
Morgan F. McDonald, MD, has been named the Milbank Memorial Fund’s National Director of Population Health and Health Equity Leadership. McDonald served most recently as the Interim Health Commissioner for Tennessee and previously as Deputy Commissioner for Population Health and Assistant Commissioner for Family Health and Wellness. In these roles, she provided senior leadership for the state’s pandemic response and recovery efforts, championed the department’s health equity engagement and implementation work, and successfully led the state’s maternal and child health improvement initiatives.
Board certified in medicine and pediatrics, McDonald has continued her clinical practices, focusing on the needs of underserved populations. She has been recognized with national and state awards for her work.
Starting April 3, McDonald will be responsible for the Fund’s state health policy leadership programs. In this role, she will further develop the Fund’s health equity programming and identify new opportunities to respond to participants’ population health needs.
“We are fortunate to have someone with Morgan’s commitment to and experience with public health join us,” said Milbank Memorial Fund President Christopher F. Koller. “Public health leaders know firsthand the importance of responding thoughtfully and systematically to the health inequities that continue to plague the United States. The leadership that Morgan brought to Tennessee will be instrumental in identifying, informing, and inspiring health policy leaders across the country as they take up the many population health challenges this country faces.”
