Milbank Memorial Fund President Christopher F. Koller and Board member Joneigh S. Khaldun, MD, vice president and chief health equity officer, CVS Health, and staff physician, Henry Ford Health, have been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) as part of its 2023 class. NAM members are recognized for their significant contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, health care, and public health.
Mr. Koller was cited by NAM “for influencing the alignment of private and public health care policy to achieve systemic progress in population health and cost-effectiveness. The reforms he led as Rhode Island’s Health Insurance Commissioner have had national influence.” Mr. Koller has served on four Committees of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, as well as its Health Care Services Board.
Dr. Khaldun was recognized for “her national leadership in emergency medicine and public health and advancing effective strategies to improve the health of historically marginalized populations.” NAM cited her leadership of Michigan’s COVID-19 response and the Detroit Health Department’s strategy achieving its lowest recorded infant mortality rate, as well as her role on President Biden’s COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force.
