Chief Strategic Initiatives Officer, Community Healthcare Network
Anthony Shih, MD, MPH, is a physician executive who most recently was Chief Strategic Initiatives Officer of Community Healthcare Network, a non-profit federally qualified health center network of 14 clinics providing primary and behavioral health care, dental, nutrition, wellness, and needed support services to underserved communities in New York City. In August 2022, Dr. Shih completed a five-year term as president and CEO of United Hospital Fund, an independent non-profit organization established in 1879, whose mission is to build an effective and equitable health care system for every New Yorker. Dr. Shih previously held senior executive positions at several leading health care non-profit organizations, including executive vice president at the New York Academy of Medicine, executive vice president for programs at the Commonwealth Fund, and chief quality officer at IPRO. He began his medical career at a community-based mental health clinic serving immigrant and refugee families in Oakland, CA. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in health policy, health system performance improvement, quality improvement, and population health, as well as for his commitment to health equity. Board-certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Shih earned a BA in economics from Amherst College; an MD from the NYU School of Medicine; and an MPH from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health.
