Francisco I. Pedraza is an associate professor in the School of Politics & Global Studies and associate director of the Center for Latina/os and American Politics Research at Arizona State University. Pedraza was formerly a professor in the Department of Political Science and the School of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside. In 2021 he was a visiting scholar at the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Houston. Pedraza investigates political attitude formation and political behavior, with a special emphasis on the attitudes and behaviors of racial and ethnic minorities in the United States. His research draws on sociological, psychological, and policy processes theoretical frameworks to better understand individual-level policy preferences, electoral candidate preferences, political knowledge, and other political orientations like political efficacy and trust in, and support for, government institutions. His substantive research interests also include the relationship between immigration policy and health policy.
