Chief of Staff, Kentucky Department of Public Health
Taban Herrington is the Chief of Staff for the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH). Taban earned her master’s degree from the University of Kentucky where she studied risk and crisis communications and taught courses in public relations and communications. Taban has experience working in emergency management and has developed inclusive emergency preparedness communications campaigns. She also oversaw disaster response exercises for the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taban served as the lead for access and functional needs planning and support and was the coordinator for crisis communications at KDPH. Taban has been involved in research efforts surrounding crisis communications response strategies, risk perception and messaging, health communications campaigns, and the use of culturally tailored messaging in emergency response communications.
