Primary Care Transformation

Despite being the only health sector shown to improve population health and health equity, primary care in the United States is in crisis as access to care declines. Federal and state governments and commercial insurers have roles to play in strengthening primary care payment, training, workforce, payment, and funding for research.

Good primary care is essential to improving population health. The Milbank Memorial Fund approaches strengthening primary care by focusing on 1) increasing primary care investment, 2) improving primary care access and delivery with payment reform, and 3) tracking the health of US primary care.
