Mollyann Brodie is a PhD student in health policy at Harvard University. Her research focuses on the political economy of health care and the role of political institutions in health policy.
Iain Chalmers is director of the U.K. Cochrane Centre in Oxford. Previously, he was director of the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit in Oxford and editor of the Oxford Database of Perinatal Trials.
Murray Enkin is professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynaecology, with an associate appointment in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, McMaster University, Canada. He is an editor of the Cochrane Collaboration Pregnancy and Childbirth Module.
Emmett B. Keeler is senior mathematician at RAND in Santa Monica, California, and, as a member of the Patient Outcomes Research Team (PORT), he is a principal investigator of the management and outcomes of childbirth. He is interested in the measurement of hospital quality, cost-effectiveness analysis, and the effects of insurance design.
Marc J.N.C. Keirse is professor of obstetrics, gynaecology, and reproduction at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, and an editor of the Cochrane Collaboration Pregnancy and Childbirth Module.
Jonathan Lomas is coordinator of the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis and professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the Health Sciences Centre, McMaster University, Canada. His recent work has focused on implementing practice guidelines and on designing policy research methods to be incorporated into the policy development process.
David Mechanic is director and Rene Dubos Professor of Behavioral Sciences at the Institute of Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research at Rutgers University. His current research interests center on national health care policy, the organization and financing of mental health care, and the behavioral aspects of health. Mr. Mechanic’s recent essays appear in his latest book, Inescapable Decisions: The Imperatives of Health Reform.
Frederick Mosteller is director of the Technology Assessment Group at the Harvard School of Public Health and Roger I. Lee Professor of Mathematical Statistics, Emeritus. Mr. Mosteller writes theoretical papers on statistical methods as well as articles about statistical applications to health and medicine, social science, and sports.
Jane E. Sisk, an economist, is professor of public health in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Columbia University School of Public Health. Her interests focus on technology assessment, including the implementation of research findings; prevention; and the organization and financing of health care.
Barbara Stocking was previously director of the King’s Fund Centre in the United Kingdom. She was recently appointed to the post of chief executive of the Oxford Regional Health Authority. Ms. Stocking is a member of the NHS Central Research and Development Committee.
