Back to Building Back Better
With the outcome of the 2020 Presidential election now decided, the new Biden administration faces enormous challenges as it prepares to assume office on January 20, 2021.
Although President-elect Biden has articulated his health policy ideas for fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening the ACA, many more details remain to be fleshed out and numerous other health issues of vital importance to the nation must yet be addressed.
Beginning with this initial post, The Milbank Quarterly is pleased to offer a series of timely, practical, and evidence-based recommendations to the new administration. Throughout the transition period, policy opinions authored by members of the Quarterly’s Editorial Advisory Board will be posted on the journal’s website.
We hope to contribute to constructive dialogue on these issues and to better health for the American people.
Alan B. Cohen became editor of The Milbank Quarterly in August 2018. He currently is a research professor in the Markets, Public Policy, and Law Department at the Boston University Questrom School of Business, and professor of health law, policy and management at the Boston University School of Public Health. He previously directed the Scholars in Health Policy Research Program and the Investigator Awards in Health Policy Research for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Earlier in his career, he held faculty positions at Johns Hopkins University and Brandeis University, and spent 8 years at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance. He received his BA in psychology from the University of Rochester, and his MS and ScD in health policy and management from the Harvard School of Public Health.
